Arbor Day


In a place in Shropshire called Aston on Clun, Royal Oak Day is better known as ‘Arbor Day’.  Every year on or near 29th May trees all over the village are dressed with flags, and the day spent dancing, eating and drinking.

 

Sunday 30th May

"Come and join us on Arbor Day this year, on Sunday May 30th, at 1.30pm when there will be mixed Morris Dancing at the Tree, the Children’s Wedding Pageant and Arbor Tree Ceremony.   

Then back to the Village Hall, for refreshments, by Hopesay WI and the 
Circus Workshop, for the children, on the Village Green (in the Village Hall if wet).

 

2010 Arbor Day Timetable

1.30 pm: Mixed Morris dancing at the tree

1.50 pm: Wedding Pageant leaves the Village Hall

2.00 pm: Pageant arrives at Tree

2.20 pm: Pageant leaves Tree

2.30 pm: Pageant arrives back at the Village Hall - walk around the Green if fine.

Children’s circus workshop on the Green (in Village Hall if wet).
