Cornubia c.705 ‘(Territory of) the Britons/Welsh of the Cornovii tribe’

St Neot is a Cornish village named after the Saxon monk. A new branch of oak is hoisted to the top of the village church tower every Royal Oak Day.
‘At Looe, as well as in other districts of East Cornwall, the usage of wearing an oak sprig on the 29th May was enforced by spitting at, or “cobbing,” the offender ’.
